Door entry fob systems
The main entrance doors to many Council‑owned flats are operated using a fob access system. A fob is a small, plastic, pre‑programmed key.
When it is held against the reader beside the entrance door, the door will unlock.
Who is provided with a fob?
- One fob is issued to leaseholders and new tenants at the start of their tenancy
Lost fobs
- If you lose your fob, a replacement can be issued for a charge of £20.45.
To request a replacement or additional fob, you will need to follow these steps:
- Make payment by credit or debit card:
- In person at the Town Hall, or
- By calling Customer Services, who can take payment over the phone. A receipt can be emailed to you.
- A Council representitive will programme the new fob for you.
- You will need to show proof of identity and your payment receipt or invoice before the fob is issued.
- Once a new fob is programmed, any old fobs linked to your property will be cancelled and will no longer work.
What if my fob is broken?
- Broken fobs will be replaced free of charge where the damage is due to normal wear and tear, provided the damaged fob is returned to us.
- If the fob has been misused (for example, thrown, chewed by a pet, melted, or washed), a replacement charge will apply.
- Free replacement is only available if the broken fob is returned.
Visitor access
Visitors can gain entry by pressing the button for the flat they are visiting. This will ring the intercom phone in the flat, allowing the resident to grant access.
