Scatter of cremated remains
You may scatter ashes in the Gardens of Remembrance within our cemeteries.
These are communal scattering areas used continuously for this purpose, and individual locations cannot be reserved for a specific person.
If you wish to have a memorial service at the time of the scattering, this would need to be arranged with a celebrant or with a funeral director by yourselves. Our attendant will only be present to witness the scatter and ensure the location is recorded.
Please see our scatter form, this will need to be returned to us with the cremation certificate issued by the crematorium.
Where a family chooses to scatter their loved one’s cremated remains rather than inter them in a plot, they may wish to purchase a memorial to commemorate their loved one.
Scattering on graves
You are not permitted to scatter on top of a grave, however we do allow cremated remains to be loosely interred. This is where the top layer of the soil is removed and you may scatter in the grave and then the top layer of the soil is replaced.
If you wish to arrange a loose interment, please complete our interment form and return to us along with the cremation certificate.
