Get creative at Nuneaton Museum & Art Gallery

Free family crafts, a mischievous duck trail, and fascinating local exhibitions offer plenty of fun for families this October half-term at Nuneaton Museum & Art Gallery.

Families looking for free activities this October half-term are invited to visit Nuneaton Museum & Art Gallery, where a programme of Victorian-themed crafts, the ever-popular duck trail and creative activities promise fun for children and adults alike.

The museum’s holiday activities will take on a Victorian flavour, with two special Make ‘n’ Take craft sessions. On Thursday, 29 October, children can make a pop-up chimney sweep, while on Friday, 30 October, they can create their own Victorian mask.

Both activities are free and booking is not required. Families can simply drop in between 10:30am and 1:00pm, or 1:30pm and 3:30pm.

Each activity takes approximately 20 minutes. Children must be accompanied by an adult, and visitors may be asked to wait during busy periods.

Cllr Bobbie Greenwood, Portfolio Holder for Leisure and Health, said:

“Nuneaton Museum & Art Gallery is a wonderful place for families to spend time together during the school holidays.

“We want local families to enjoy everything the museum has to offer, discover more about our town’s heritage, and make some happy half-term memories without worrying about the cost.”

The museum’s mischievous ducks are also back, having escaped from Riversley Park and hidden themselves around the museum. Some have even dressed up in disguises, so visitors are encouraged to search high and low to find them all and earn a duck sticker.

Alongside the holiday activities, visitors can discover an impressive selection of textiles and paintings by local artists, explore the Local History Gallery and learn more about the life and work of George Eliot.

After exploring the galleries, visitors can take a break in the museum’s tearoom or browse the gift shop, open Thursday to Saturday, from 10:30am to 4:30pm.

As with all the shows, admission is free, though donations are always welcomed, and there are also several temporary exhibitions to enjoy throughout the building.
