From Saturday, 20 June until Saturday, 2 August Nuneaton Museum & Art Gallery is showcasing local artist Gerald Ball's first solo exhibition, bringing together work created over seven decades.

Born in Nuneaton in 1940, Mr Ball built a distinguished career, qualifying as an art teacher at Manchester College, and later becoming a professional designer and illustrator in 1967.

Since then, he founded Gerry Ball & Associates in 1970, later renamed Eikon Ltd, where he served as Managing Director until his retirement in 2000.

The exhibition features a diverse collection of artwork reflecting Gerald Ball's life and artistic journey, created using a range of mediums including watercolour, acrylic and oil.

A highlight for visitors to look out for is Venice, which captures the beauty of one of the city's iconic cathedrals using a blend of warm and soft tones.

Also included in the exhibition are two books full of samples of Ball’s paintings from 1958 to 2000.

Cllr Bobbie Greenwood, Portfolio Holder for Leisure and Health, said:

“It is important to celebrate local talent within the borough.

“Gerald Ball’s exhibition showcases the creativity we have in our community, offering residents the chance to enjoy a unique collection of work that originated close to home.”

While at the Museum, why not take a look at our other exhibitions, including the in-house Markets exhibition and the permanent George Eliot exhibition.

There is no need to book, just drop in, activities are free, but donations are welcomed. All children must be accompanied by an adult, at busy times visitors may be asked to wait.
