Oaston Road Cemetery, Nuneaton

The Council has partnered with Deceased Online to improve public access to historic physical burial and cremation records.

The records date from the opening of the Borough's first cemetery in 1875 through to 2002, when physical record keeping was replaced by digital systems.

Deceased Online is a secure national platform that provides online access to digitised historical burial and cremation registers from Councils across the United Kingdom.

It allows residents and family historians to search historical records quickly and conveniently online.

As a result, genealogy, family history, and general historical burial record enquiries will now be directed to Deceased Online as the primary way to access this information.

Basic searches are free, with optional paid access to view the scanned registers.

A Council spokesperson said:

"We will continue to provide information free of charge where enquiries relate to an upcoming burial or ashes interment and are needed to support funeral arrangements."

For more information about accessing historic burial and cremation records and how genealogy requests are handled, please visit the Council’s Historic Burial and Cremation Records webpage.

A spokesperson for Deceased Online said:

"Here at Deceased Online, we are looking forward to sharing the burial and cremation records for Nuneaton and Bedworth Council.

"This project progressed through a collaborative and positive working relationship between Deceased Online and the Council.

"We hope members of the public are able to find information they need through the records being made available on Deceased Online."
