A significant step forward in the transformation of Nuneaton town centre was celebrated today with a ribbon-cutting ceremony to welcome the padel operator as part of phase two of Grayson Place.

The milestone event marks the continued delivery of the town’s flagship regeneration project in Abbey Street, bringing a vibrant mix of leisure, hospitality, and learning to the heart of the community.

Phase Two of Grayson Place introduces a dynamic new offering, including a contemporary food hall, central public square and events space with events from Hayes, and a state-of-the-art Digital Skills and Innovation Centre, and a Padel Centre.

A highlight of the celebration was the recognition of the exchanging of contracts with Te Amo Padel to operate from the leisure box.

The facility will provide both indoor and outdoor Padel courts, offering visitors access to one of the world’s fastest growing sports and incorporating a mezzanine floor with a lounge-bar, golf simulators, and interactive darts to provide a full family experience within a premium social environment.

The development also incorporates modern infrastructure such as EV-enabled parking bays to support both sustainability and accessibility in the newly opened 120-space Abbey Street car park.

Cllr Nicky King, Portfolio Holder for Business and Regeneration, said:

“This is a landmark moment for Nuneaton and the wider borough.

“Phase two of Grayson Place represents our vision to create a thriving destination where people can come together to eat, learn, socialise, and stay active.

“In welcoming the padel operator to Grayson Place today, this demonstrates that what was once a vision for Nuneaton town centre will soon be realised.

“This was an ambitious regeneration project and I am pleased with all of the support and hard work that has gone into bringing Grayson Place to life.”

Richard Thorndike, Director of Te Amo Padel, said:

“We want to create a community-based facility for connecting people in a first-class environment.”

Delivered as part of the wider Transforming Nuneaton programme, Grayson Place is designed to revitalise and rejuvenate the town centre and attract both visitors and investment to the town centre.

Phase one of the scheme, which saw the opening of the Hampton by Hilton hotel, has already set the tone for the regeneration project, with phase two building on that success to create a lively, modern, and energetic destination in the Borough.

The completion of the second phase of the development is expected to firmly establish Grayson Place as a key hub for leisure, skills development, and community engagement in the region.
