Consultation on the Draft Hackney Carriage and Private Hire Licensing Policy.
Nuneaton and Bedworth Borough Council is consulting on its proposed new Hackney Carriage and Private Hire Licensing Policy. The draft policy sets out the Council’s proposed approach to the licensing and regulation of hackney carriage and private hire drivers, vehicles and operators, with the aim of promoting public safety, protecting passengers, supporting accessibility and ensuring consistent and effective licensing standards. The policy updates, amends and brings together already existing vehicle, driver, operator policies in to one document and modernises they way the way in which the Council operates with the taxi and private hire trade.
The consultation will run for eight weeks, from 21 October 2026 to 15 December 2026. The Council welcomes comments and feedback from licensed drivers, vehicle proprietors, private hire operators, members of the public, neighbouring local authorities and other interested parties. Responses received during the consultation will be considered before the policy is finalised and presented to the Licensing Committee for consideration. The Council encourages all interested parties to review the draft policy and submit their views to help inform its development.
