Ending a tenancy
Ending a tenancy correctly is a complex process and if you are unsure, we advise that you seek legal advice. Below are some links to information from the Government on ending a tenancy:
- Assured periodic tenancies: a guide for landlords: Ending a tenancy - GOV.UK
- The Housing Acts of 1988 and 1996, and the Renters’ Rights Act 2025, set out rules that apply to tenancies when properties are rented out privately. In some cases, it may be necessary for landlords to complete a ‘prescribed form’ that proposes an action that may affect the other party to the tenancy agreement.
- It is a crime to harass or try to force your tenants out of a property without following correct procedures. Your tenants might have the right to claim damages through the court if you do not follow the rules
