Saturday’s Hands on History session explores the history of a once prolific creative and skilful industry.

Discover and get hands on with some beautiful examples of local ribbon weaving including ribbon samples, silk pictures and woven bookmarks. Appreciate pieces from our collection highlighting the decorative and practical uses of ribbon such as a stunning ribbon waistcoat and a baby’s matinee coat. Tools of the trade on display will include an amazing weaver’s lamp and hand loom shuttles.

Hands on History sessions are free and there is no need to book. Just drop in between 11am to 4pm in the Museum’s Picture Gallery.
