Nuneaton Market

Nuneaton and Bedworth Borough Council officers and councillors met with town centre market traders last week (27 March) to discuss possible future options for the market in Nuneaton.

The Borough Council confirmed the market will not close, and the consultation is intended to give the traders a viable and attractive base for many years to come.

Plans discussed included examining ways of reducing costs for both the traders and the Council and were focused on generating options for further consideration.

Jonathan White, Assistant Director for Economy at Nuneaton and Bedworth Borough Council, said:

“The discussions were open and constructive, and we genuinely felt the traders understood the points we were making about wanting to work with them to protect the longer-term viability of the market.

“Nuneaton has a long history of offering a vibrant and varied town centre, including a popular market, and we want that to continue.

“We will now produce further options for both parties to consider later this year.”
