Gerald La Touche hosts a Q&A panel featuring distinguished speakers at MIRA Technology Institute

Local businesses came together with industry leaders, skills providers and regional organisations at a successful business networking event organised by Nuneaton and Bedworth Borough Council.

The networking event brought together businesses from across the borough with a range of leading organisations to share knowledge, explore opportunities and build connections around skills, talent, innovation, and economic growth.

Attendees had the opportunity to hear directly from and put their questions to panel of industry and skills experts at MIRA Technology Institute, including representatives from MIRA Tech Park, Warwickshire County Council Skills Hub, Coventry & Warwickshire Chamber, North Warwickshire and South Leicestershire College, (NWSLC) and Bosch UK.

Discussions focused on the changing skills landscape and how businesses can access training, facilities, talent and support. Speakers also explored the importance of connecting education and careers, opportunities for businesses to work with industry and education partners, and the role of local employers in developing the skills needed for the future.

A key feature of the event was the opportunity for businesses to network with other local companies and regional stakeholders, creating opportunities to share experiences, develop partnerships and identify areas for collaboration.

Businesses were also introduced to the wider ecosystem surrounding MIRA Tech Park, including opportunities to engage with its network and make use of digital tools.

The event also provided an opportunity to learn more about regional initiatives supporting innovation and business growth, including CreaTech Frontiers, a West Midlands creative industries cluster bringing together businesses, cultural organisations, freelancers, artists and academic experts.

The initiative supports innovation in creative technology and provides opportunities for eligible businesses and individuals to collaborate and develop new ideas.

Gerald La Touche, Lead Economic Development Officer at Nuneaton and Bedworth Borough Council, said:

“It was excellent to see local businesses come together with industry leaders, skills providers and regional partners.

“Events like this provide a valuable opportunity for businesses to make new connections, hear about the support available to them and explore ways of working together to strengthen our local economy.

“It is very reassuring to hear from local businesses in attendance just how passionate they are about investing in and support young people, especially in the early stages of their career which plays such as important part of shaping their future.”

The event forms part of the Love Nuneaton & Bedworth network, which aims to bring businesses and organisations together, encourage collaboration and support the continued growth of the local economy.

Businesses can benefit from attending future events by building valuable professional networks, gaining insight into industry trends and skills provision, discovering funding and support opportunities, meeting potential partners and customers, and learning about initiatives that can help them develop and grow.

More free events of this kind will be taking place in the future, providing local businesses with further opportunities to connect with industry leaders, regional organisations and fellow businesses.
