Red, white and blue floodlights are in place to illuminate the Town Hall’s exterior at night, with the change in place for the foreseeable future.
Reflecting the colours of the Union flag, the lighting symbolises national pride and the Council's commitment to civic pride within the community.
Cllr George Finch, Leader of the Council, said:
“We are an administration that will always celebrate the achievements of the nation, especially at a time where international issues are prioritised over those closer to home.
“As a Borough that is steeped in tradition, we will ensure key local celebrations such as Remembrance Sunday, Armistice Day, and Saint George’s Day are promoted.
“So, I am delighted to announce that the Town Hall will be lit up in the colours of the Union Flag, to celebrate our Britishness and to restore civic pride.
“Britishness is something all residents of the Borough should be proud of, and we will continue to show our commitment through flying the Union Flag and illuminating the Town Hall in our national colours.
“Let’s celebrate our nation together.”
