New flooring is being installed in the White Gallery at Nuneaton Museum & Art Gallery thanks to money from the United Kingdom Shared Prosperity Fund (UKSPF).

The existing carpet is being replaced after more than 20 years of use and this means the museum will be closed next Wednesday, 20 March, to enable the work to take place

This also means that the “Wiv Luv Larry” exhibition about Larry Grayson will now open a week later on Saturday, 30 March.

Museum employees are now busy clearing the space to enable the work to take place.

Cllr Sue Markham, Portfolio Holder for Public Services, said:

“We are pleased that the UKSPF monies are being spent to continue to improve our popular museum.

“While it will be more difficult in the short term as the works take place, these improvements will help the museum provide access for all, for years to come.’’

Funding for the project came after the Council was awarded £4,028,173 from the UK Shared Prosperity Fund (UKSPF) for the period 2022/3 to 2024/5.

This fund has replaced European funding and is intended to reduce inequalities between communities as part of the government’s wider levelling up agenda.

While at the Museum, why not check out our temporary exhibitions.
