Empowr-U, a non-profit organisation focused on empowering individuals and the wider community to reach their true potentials became the new operators of Keresley community centre today.

Their focus is on making real changes in the hardest to reach groups of society through things such as sports and the arts.

As well as ensuring that the existing community activities including, children’s holiday groups, arts and craft sessions, and Tae Kwon Do classes are still facilitated, Empowr-U also have some new ideas they would like to implement including a Grub Hub which offers discounted meals for those on low incomes and a social café. 

Directors Joe Graham and Ellis Hemingway were excited to be taking the helm at the Community Centre, in a joint statement they said:

“This marks a significant milestone in our mission to empower and uplift the community of Warwickshire, Coventry and beyond.

“The Community Centre holds immense potential as a hub for positive change. We are committed to creating a vibrant, positive, and inclusive space for all.

“Together, let’s embark on this journey towards a brighter, more connected future for Keresley.” 

Nuneaton and Bedworth Borough Council Portfolio Holder for Finance and Corporate Services, Cllr Sam Croft, said:

"I am very happy to welcome Empowr-U to Keresley Community Centre. I have no doubt that will do a fantastic job of running the Centre.

“Their principles around empowering individuals and making real changes to people’s lives are in keeping with those of the Borough Council, and they have a lot of new ideas to bring to the table, which I am sure will greatly benefit the local community.”

Exhall Ward Cllr, Damon Brown added:

"I'm delighted that the management of Keresley Community Centre has been awarded to Empowr-U. This secures the future of the Centre for the community in Keresley and heralds the start of a new and exciting future for it.

“Ellis and Joe have great plans to develop a whole range of services and activities at the Centre. I'm pleased to have worked with them and the Council to help secure the future of the Community Centre in Keresley. I wish them every success in the future."
