Nuneaton and Bedworth Borough Council has been working in partnership with Network Rail to undertake essential tree works to improve rail track safety.

In anticipation of these works a tree planting program has been implemented, with new trees now established in more suitable locations away from the railway line.

These new trees are anticipated to reach their full potential, offering long-term environmental and recreational benefits for future generations.

To make the railway safer the Council has been working with Network Rail to remove trees located immediately adjacent to the railway line.

These works were carried out to address safety concerns associated with the trees’ proximity to overhead power lines and the operational railway. Due to the layout and historic pruning, the trees had become increasingly difficult to manage safely and sustainably.

Phase two of the works, which will involve further tree management within the adjacent cemetery area, is expected to begin later in the year.

The tree removal is part of a wider, long-term plan to improve public safety and to improve and secure the future tree stock within the area.

The Council will continue to keep residents informed as the project progresses.
