Following the announcement of Nuneaton Museum & Art Gallery's success in being deemed a top tier attraction, half-term proved to be extra busy at the museum.
There were 771 visits in three days, this was up 263 visits (more than fifty per cent) on last year’s total of 508.
The number of children taking part in the free activity also more than doubled from last year to 114, a rise of 64 on the previous year.
There is still much to come in 2026. There is a Victorian Family Event Day on March 21, between 11:00am and 4:00pm where you can join us to discover how our world has changed dramatically since the Victorian era.
There’ll be a chance to experience a magic lantern show, find out more about Victorian Life from Captain Wyatt, a veteran of the Boer Wars and now employed as Her Majesties bodyguard.
Plus, you will be able to handle museum objects to explore new inventions of the Victorian age, such as the incandescent light bulb and technological advances such as steam power.

Our free children’s activities will also be returning for the Easter holidays:
Inspired by our 109 birthday! Woohoo!
Thursday, 2 April - Make a party hat
Good Friday, 3 April - Help us make some bunting to celebrate!
Inspired by the anniversary of the first human to go into space!
Thursday, 9 April - Make a cosmonaut mask
Friday, 10 April - Decorate your own fiery rocket
There is no need to book, just drop in.
Activities are free but donations are welcomed, all children must be accompanied by an adult. At busy times you may be asked to wait.
There is all of this as well as loads of exhibitions including the Festival of Arts exhibition.
Cllr Brady Hughes, Portfolio holder for Leisure and Health, said:
“It’s fantastic news that so many people are enjoying the museum and the activities it offers. I would urge anyone who hasn’t visited to drop in.
"The museum provides free, fun things for families to do, whether it be craft activities for children, finding out about history, or enjoying the art on display.”
While at the museum, why not check out the temporary exhibitions.
For opening hours, visit the Nuneaton Museum & Art Gallery webpage.
Why not also follow the museum on Facebook, where you can keep up to date with all of the events.
