Nuneaton and Bedworth Borough Council is inviting residents to have their say on five updated Supplementary Planning Documents (SPDs) and one newly produced SPD.

Residents can have their say on the documents during a four week consultation period, running from Wednesday, 4 February, until Wednesday, 4 March.

SPDs provide detailed advice and guidance in relation to the implementation and interpretation of planning policies, supporting the delivery of sustainable development across the Borough. While SPDs do not form part of the statutory development plan, they are a material consideration in the determination of planning applications.

The Council currently has a set of SPDs linked to policies within Borough Plan (2011-2031). Following the adoption of the Borough Plan Review (2021-2039) on 10 December 2025, these SPDs have been updated to align with the new policies. We are now consulting on the following updated SPDs:

  • Affordable Housing SPD (2026)
  • Health Impact Assessment SPD (2026)
  • Creating a Healthier Food Environment – Hot Food Takeaways SPD (2026)
  • Sustainable Design and Construction SPD (2026)
  • Transport Demand Management Matter – Parking Standards SPD (2026)

In addition, we are seeking your feedback on a new Heritage SPD, which includes a Local List. A Local List is a way in which local heritage sites, such as buildings, monuments, historic parks and gardens or other designated landscapes, can be formally identified so that their significance can be considered in the decision-making process regarding planning applications affecting the building or site/setting.

Consultation documents and response forms are available on the Council’s website.
