Empty Property

Nuneaton and Bedworth Borough Council is offering expert help for those with unoccupied properties that meet with class F Exemptions.

The Council is aiming to work with a team of external specialists on a concession agreement to offer property owners independent support and probate advice.

This type of service is frequently carried out by councils across the UK and will be at zero cost to Nuneaton and Bedworth Borough Council.

As of our latest figures the Borough has 119 Probate cases and 320 Class F Exemptions.

Cllr Chris Watkins, Leader of Nuneaton and Bedworth Borough Council and Portfolio Holder for Housing, said:

“This is a way of offering expert help to those who may need advice, and it will also help the Council towards its goals of reducing empty property numbers.

“Agreements between the property owner and any specialist firm will be independent of the Council.

“Properties get stuck in this process for many years for a number of reasons, by bringing in a specialist to offer support, we believe we can help people who may not have considered this type of help.”

The Council aims to ensure that any speciality company brought in will already have experience working with Councils, and meet the operational, financial and social values aligned with its own vision.
