A state-of-the-art Reformer studio will be included in the brand-new Bedworth Physical Activity Hub when it launches early next year.
The purpose-built studio will feature 18 Reformer machines with the £100,000 cost funded by award-winning operator Everyone Active.
Reformer is performed on a specialist machine with adjustable resistance and a moving platform, providing a versatile workout that can be tailored for individual fitness levels.
Popular for its ability to strengthen the core, improve flexibility and assist with rehabilitation, the exercise is suitable for people of all ages and abilities.
The centre will offer two types of Reformer class:
- Reformer Fitcore: a low-impact, full-body workout focusing on strength, mobility and core stability
- Reformer Ignite: a higher-intensity, fitness-based session designed to challenge participants of all levels
Reformer is part of Everyone Active’s commitment to provide innovative fitness offerings for local communities.
It will replace the group cycling studio that had been included in the original plans, a new group cycling studio will soon be completed at the nearby Pingles Leisure Centre in Nuneaton.
Lloyd Barraclough, Everyone Active’s Area Contract Manager, said:
"We’re excited to bring Reformer to Bedworth Physical Activity Hub and to make this versatile workout accessible to the local community.
“Reformer truly is for everyone, whether you’re just starting your fitness journey, looking to enhance your routine, or recovering from an injury.
“The Reformer machine’s adaptability ensures sessions can be as gentle or challenging as needed, making it an ideal option for people of all ages and fitness levels."
Cllr Brady Hughes, Portfolio Holder for Leisure and Health, said:
“The request for a change of the studio space is because of Reformer Studios being a more holistic and latest approach to health and well-being and reaching a range of users, over and above a group cycling studio.
“Also, as part of the Council investment into leisure facilities the Pingles Leisure site is having a refurbishment and a new group cycling studio is being developed.
“With the ability to now provide both a permanent cycling and Reformer activity area at the two main Council leisure facilities, this request supports providing a more varied range of activities to residents, supporting health and well-being.’’
The decision to proceed with the Reformer Studio was taken as an individual cabinet member decision by Cllr Hughes on Wednesday, 3 December.
