Work is gathering pace on the refurbishment of Pingles Leisure Centre – with the brand-new group exercise studio now open.
The centre, run by award-winning operator Everyone Active in partnership with Nuneaton and Bedworth Borough Council, is undergoing extensive upgrades thanks to the joint investment, with the overall project due to be completed by the end of December.
In the wake of the refurbishment of the reception, membership area and café, the new group fitness studio is now open, having been relocated downstairs and given a new look and feel.
Classes began on Saturday, 15 November, and customers are encouraged to book via the Everyone Active app or website.
Meanwhile, preparatory works began last week in the gym, which is set to be expanded from 80 to 130 stations and will feature state-of-the-art Life Fitness equipment.
The whole centre will close early at 7pm on Monday, 1 December, to allow work to continue safely that evening.
The whole centre, apart from the gym, will then reopen at 9am on Tuesday, 2 December, with the gym remaining closed until Saturday, 20 December, while the extension is completed and top-of-the-range equipment is added.
Members can use the gyms at Jubilee Sports Centre and Bedworth Leisure Centre at no additional cost during this period.
Work on a new group cycling studio will begin in the coming days, while the brand-new interactive splash pad, refurbished outdoor pool and pre-existing leisure pool, the latter of which has been closed due to essential maintenance, will open in early December. The refurbishment of the ground floor changing village is already complete.
Meanwhile, at Jubilee Sports Centre, the floodlit 3G all-weather pitch is being resurfaced this week ahead of further work on an exciting gym expansion in January.
At the brand-new Bedworth Physical Activity Hub, due for completion in March 2026, the learner pool has been tiled and the 25m pool is now undergoing the same treatment, while the sports hall is also taking shape.
Lloyd Barraclough, Everyone Active’s Area Contract Manager, said:
“It is great news that the group exercise studio at Pingles Leisure Centre is now open and available for the local community to use.
“That is just one part of a hugely exciting transformation and come the new year, people will feel they are walking into a different centre.
“The fantastic facilities will give people of all ages, interests and abilities an excellent range of options to enhance their physical health and mental well-being.
“Alongside the refurbishment works at Jubilee Sports Centre and the opening of the state-of-the-art Bedworth Physical Activity Hub next year, this is an enormously exciting time for leisure in the local area.”
Cllr Brady Hughes, Portfolio Holder for Leisure and Health at Nuneaton and Bedworth Borough Council, said:
“I am delighted that this superb new exercise studio is now open, it is yet another great facility for our Borough.
“It is also fantastic news that the splash pad, outdoor pool and leisure pool will be opening in December, this will really make The Pingles a leisure centre to be proud of, along with The Jubilee and the eagerly anticipated Bedworth Physical Activity Hub.
“These works are part of the Council's investment into physical activity, to support improvements across our Borough with health and well-being.
“This financial commitment is part of our Corporate Plan objectives, providing residents with state-of-the-art facilities to help make informed choices about being more active with various activity areas.’’
