26/27 budget consultation

Nuneaton and Bedworth Borough Council is inviting residents and businesses to share their views on the Council’s proposed budget priorities for the 2026/27 financial year.

This is an opportunity for everybody to let the Council know their thoughts on which services matter most you, and which other services could be reduced to fund preferred options.

The consultation, which runs from Wednesday, 5 November, until Wednesday, 7 January 2026, is your chance to share your views on how the Council should allocate resources and funds to deliver essential local services, while continuing to invest in regeneration, housing, and community wellbeing.

The Council carries out certain services for residents where it is obliged to by law, while there are other duties completed for the benefit of its communities and businesses. All these services are funded through Council Tax, business rates, grants, and fees and charges.

A large proportion of the Council’s funding is through Council Tax, although we only retain 11% of this, with 76% paid to Warwickshire County Council and 13% paid to the Warwickshire Police and Crime Commissioner.

Considering the continuing financial pressures faced by local authorities nationwide, the Council is reviewing all areas of spending to ensure every pound delivers maximum value for residents.

Cllr Steve Hey, Portfolio Holder for Corporate Resources, said:

“We understand that residents are feeling the impact of rising costs, and the Council faces many of the same financial challenges.

“This consultation is your opportunity to tell us what really matters to you. Whether that’s keeping our streets clean, supporting businesses, or investing in leisure and community facilities.

“We’re committed to making sure every decision we take is informed by the views of those who live in Nuneaton and Bedworth.”

Feedback from the consultation will be considered before the final budget proposals are presented to Cabinet and Full Council in February next year.
