Working with Bedworth Physical Activity Hub construction partners BAM, alongside skatepark designers Canvas, the Borough Council has recently finalised plans for the new skatepark in Bedworth.
The skatepark is due to be constructed in spring or summer 2026 and should open at some point during 2026.
Design changes have had to be made since proposals were first consulted on, to fit within the available budget - but key elements have been retained and additional, new features added as part of amending the original design.
The new skatepark design includes a rhythm section, bowled areas, park section, street section and a perimeter line.
The design seeks to provide interest for skateboarders, scooters, in-line skates and BMX riders and be beginner friendly, whilst still offering challenge and progression for more experienced users.
Cllr Brady Hughes, Portfolio Holder for Leisure and Health, said:
“We are really looking forward to seeing a skatepark facility back in Miners’ Welfare Park next year and back in Bedworth.
“We understand the significant frustration felt when the previous metal skatepark had to be dismantled due to structural decay of the ramps making its use unsafe.
“The new concrete skatepark will bring the provision right up to date, with many new elements that skatepark users would want to see in a modern skatepark, including high surface quality which will improve the experience for users.”
Cllr Chris Watkins, Leader of Nuneaton and Bedworth Borough Council and Portfolio holder for Housing said:
“In the Borough Council’s Corporate Plan, we make a pledge to improve the health outcomes for our residents and enhance our green spaces, and this is another example of how we are investing in our communities to help keep our young people active and healthy and improve our green spaces for the benefit of all users.
“I am very much looking forward to seeing the vision for the new skatepark come to life over the next year, and hope that users will enjoy this new facility.”
