Spring Clean
Published on Monday, 15th May 2017
Nuneaton and Bedworth Borough Council are conducting a litter pick and fly tipping clearance along a number of roads of Nuneaton and Bedworth.
Due to the speed limits, sharp bends and health and safety a number of roads in the Borough have been waiting for the cleanse until traffic management can be out in place for safety reasons. The work commencing 15th May and that will continue for 5 days will see the following roads tackled.
- Astley Lane
- Marston Lane
- Gipsy Lane
- Coventry Road
- Parrots Grove
- Bedworth Lane
The roads will have traffic management in place to road users with stop and go signs whilst cleansing operatives are carrying out the work.
Car litter, as well as fly tipping along these stretches of roads in recent months has become a common problem and major concern for the council. The council are asking residents and road users to be mindful when disposing of waste. Accumulation of litter is still an ongoing problem in these areas. Bulky waste and excess waste can be taken to the Household Waste and Recycling Centre on Tuttle Hill or call the Council for a bulky waste collection.
“There has been a major issue with the litter accumulation along these stretches of highway for some time which uses tax payer’s money to clean and is very unsightly for Nuneaton and Bedworth residents and visitors. The litter pick is necessary to free the area from litter and the council apologises for any inconvenience this may cause during this time. If anyone does see littering from a motor vehicle, I urge you to come forward with the details for us to investigate.”
Said Brent Davis, Director of Assets and Street Services
