Mr Hardy was the driving force in the development of the Veterans Contact Point, which was originally set up in Nuneaton Town Hall in 2009 and is now based at Bentley Road.
Cllr Bhim Saru, Mayor of Nuneaton and Bedworth, said:
“On behalf of the Borough and as Mayor, I would like to extend our heartfelt condolences to Len’s family and friends.
“Len touched the lives of so many, and his legacy will continue through the countless people who benefit from his dedication and commitment to supporting our veterans.
“Our thoughts and prayers are with his immediate family and friends at this difficult time.’’
Mr Hardy, an army veteran himself, was awarded the British Empire Medal (BEM) in the Queen's Birthday Honours in 2019.
While the Prince of Wales, the now King made a surprise visit to the Veterans Contact Point after it had a make-over a year later.
Cllr Chris Watkins, Leader of Nuneaton and Bedworth Borough Council said:
“Myself, along with Councillors and Council officers, would like to pay tribute to the years of dedicated work carried out by Len.
“He championed the voices and needs of the Armed Forces Community and was a constant for officers and elected members to embed the Armed Forces Covenant.
“Len helped shaped services and deliver projects for the betterment of our veterans and their families across the borough, he will be greatly missed.’’
