The lunchtime talk, titled Animal Myths by Anthony Poulton-Smith, takes place at Nuneaton Museum & Art Gallery on Friday 5 September.

A spokesman for the Museum said:

“This talk is an examination of some of the quite ludicrous ideas our ancestors once attributed to our animals.

“For example, the giraffe is the result of a cross between a leopard and a camel!’’

The talk runs from 12:30 to 1:30pm at the Riversley Park building and admission is free.

Mr Poulton-Smith is a freelance journalist and author, with 94 published books and has ghostwritten articles, as well as compiling many crosswords and puzzles.

Cllr Brady Hughes, Portfolio Holder for Leisure and Health, said:

“This promises to be both an interesting and intriguing talk which visitors will hopefully enjoy.

“Our fantastic Museum & Art Gallery has so much to offer, from the regular afternoon talks to exciting temporary and permanent exhibitions and I urge people to take a look themselves at this wonderful facility.’’

While at the Museum why not check out the temporary exhibitions.

Admission is free though donations are always welcome.
