Join us for March’s Hands on History session, where we will be delving into the life of Edward Melly, the founder of Riversley Park and Nuneaton Museum & Art Gallery.

The “Melly’s Museum Memories” session on Saturday, 16 March, will showcase a range of objects, from photographs to personal items, that relate to his varying local roles, including as a colliery manager and a Justice of the Peace.

Our Hands on History events represent a unique opportunity to handle some of the wonderful artefacts from the museum’s collections. The sessions are free, and there is no need to book. Drop in anytime between 11:00am and 3:00pm at Nuneaton Museum & Art Gallery.

Cllr Sue Markham, Portfolio Holder for Public Services, said:

“The museum’s handling sessions enable visitors to feel the excitement of real history in their hands.”

While at the Museum, why not check out our temporary exhibitions?

“Different but the Same” by the Jeudis Textile Group is a showcase of the different ways textiles can be used to create art.

“Shores of the Infant Sea” by Rachel Shirley shows us exquisite illustrations allowing us to delve into wonderful children’s books.

For opening hours, visit the Nuneaton Museum & Art Gallery webpage.
