Nuneaton Museum & Art Gallery welcomed more than 500 people to the museum when it supported Warwickshire Libraries Park Life Reads event last weekend.
The Park Life Reads event held in Riversley Park and Nuneaton Museum & Art Gallery on Saturday, 9 August, attracted a huge audience of all ages.
The museum offered storytelling sessions with Tom the Tale Teller, a chance to make your own postcard as well as the opportunity to handle vintage railway items usually in store alongside other park-based activities organised by Warwickshire Libraries NPO.
Attracting more than 500 visitors in total and 186 visits to the mobile library, the free event provided a range of 30 activities including face painting, a petting zoo, arts and crafts, outdoor yoga, storytelling sessions, massages, music performances and more.
Feedback from visitors was overwhelmingly positive, with 93% commenting it had a positive impact on their health and wellbeing, 92% feeling more positive about libraries and 95 per cent saying they felt more confident accessing arts and culture as a result of attending the event.
Cllr Brady Hughes, Portfolio Holder for Leisure and Health, said:
“This was a fantastic event that drew in huge amounts of people to the town on Saturday.
“The positive feedback that was collected showed that these types of events can really make a difference in the community, not only improving wellbeing but also helping people feel more comfortable accessing the arts.
“It just shows how wonderfully important the Museum is in helping people across all age ranges experience arts and culture in a fun, accessible way.”
Dr Anjna Chouhan, NPO Creative Producer at Warwickshire County Council, added:
“Warwickshire Libraries is delighted to have partnered with Nuneaton Museum and Art Gallery to bring our annual family festival to Nuneaton this year.
“As an Arts Council England funded organisation, we are passionate about engaging with communities and access to art, culture, great literature and heritage.
“We were also supported by the Holiday Activities Fund to provide 250 lunches for the public."
