Published on Wednesday, 29th March 2017
It's no April Fool - our Museum celebrates it's centenary this Saturday 1st April. Come and join in the fun!
Nuneaton Museum & Art Gallery
11am until 4pm
Nuneaton Museum & Art Gallery is 100 years old and you are invited to our Big Birthday Party! The Museum first opened its doors to the public on 1 April 1917.
Join in with some traditional 1917 fairground games outside and try your hand at ‘Splat the Rat’, ‘Hoopla’, ‘Helter Skelter’ and ‘Tin Can Alley.’
Period re- enactors Guarderobe will be showing visitors what was happening during April 1917 when the First World War was at its height. Join them and get hands on with uniform and equipment from the time.
Our Museum Access Assistants will show younger visitors how to make a special 100th Birthday Card to help celebrate our event. As our founder Edward Melly loved flowers and parks, there will be an opportunity to plant your own sunflower and enter it in a special competition!
There’s lots to do and the event is suitable for all ages, we ask that all children are accompanied by an adult.
Don’t forget! You can still see our exhibition about Edward Melly ‘The Man Behind The Museum’ on our Landing Gallery until 14 May. Find out about this fascinating individual who built the Museum and did so much to shape the Nuneaton that we see today.
The museum is open 10.30-4.30pm on Saturdays. Contact can be made with the Museum via 024 7637 6158 or firstname.lastname@example.org.
