This weekend, Nuneaton Museum & Art Gallery will be open on Sunday afternoon, 29 June, from 2:00pm until 4:30pm, allowing access for visitors who cannot visit during normal opening hours.
This weekend is also everyone’s last chance to enjoy Georgia O’Keeffe: Memories of Drawing.
The exhibition of 21 exquisite photogravure prints of major drawings by Georgia O’Keeffe is on tour from the Hayward Gallery in London.
Best known as a painter, O’Keeffe often took breaks throughout her career to focus on drawing.
She would often say that these breaks were the best times in her life. The drawings featured in the exhibition were created between 1915 and 1963.
She worked with her agent and long-term friend to produce this collection of photogravures of the drawings.
The museum’s other art exhibitions will also be on show. The Yellow Gallery hosts the work of Coventry and Warwickshire Society of Artists, while the Landing Gallery shows exquisite watercolours by local artists.
Many of these artworks are for sale at reasonable prices.
Sunday is also the annual George Eliot wreath laying at the monument in George Eliot Gardens. So why not enjoy the spectacle of this annual event during your visit.
Cllr Brady Hughes, Portfolio Holder for Leisure and Health, said:
“It’s great that we are able to offer this special Sunday opening which gives access on a day we are not normally open, and which supports the George Eliot Fellowship’s efforts to promote the borough’s most famous daughter.’’
While at the Museum why not check out the temporary exhibitions.
Admission is free though donations are always welcome.
