In celebration of World Oceans Day this month, the Nuneaton Museum & Art Gallery will be exploring the evolution of ocean travel through a collection of maritime objects.
Visitors to the ‘Hands on History’ event Journeys at Sea, on Saturday, 14 June, will be able to get to handle items such as model boats from around the world and nautical artefacts such as paddles, naval caps and telescopes!
The ‘Hands on History’ events represent a unique opportunity to handle some of the wonderful artefacts from the Museum’s collections. The sessions are free and there is no need to book. Drop in anytime between 11:00am and 3:15pm in the Picture Gallery.
Cllr Brady Hughes, Portfolio Holder for Leisure and Arts, said:
“The Museum’s handling sessions enable visitors to feel the excitement of real history in their hands.
“For all nautical lovers out there come along and enjoy all of the terrific maritime artefacts and don’t forget to take a look at the other exhibitions whilst you’re there. ”
While at the Museum why not check out their temporary exhibitions, which includes ‘Memories of Drawings’ by Georgia O’Keeffe - an exhibition of 21 exquisite photogravure prints of major drawings, on tour from the Hayward Gallery.
Coventry & Warwickshire Society of Artists is a show that features the talents of artists from across Coventry and Warwickshire, including sculpture and paintings.
Admission is free though donations are always welcome.
