
During a full Council meeting this week, the Labour Group officially appointed its new Cabinet.
Cllr Chris Watkins remains Leader of Nuneaton and Bedworth Borough Council and Cllr Steve Hey becomes Deputy Leader.
The Group also appointed their Cabinet members.
Each Cabinet member is responsible for a specific policy area, known as a portfolio.
The positions of Mayor and Deputy Mayor were also assigned at the meeting.
The Mayor carries out ceremonial duties as ‘First Citizen’ of the Borough and chairs Council meetings.
The appointments were made as follows:
- Mayor – Cllr Bhim Saru (St Mary’s)
- Deputy Mayor – Cllr Tracy Sheppard (Chilvers Coton)
Portfolio Holders:
- Cllr Chris Watkins (Stockingford West) - Housing
- Cllr Steve Hey (Attleborough) - Resources and Central Services
- Cllr Nicola King (Stockingford East) - Business and Regeneration
- Cllr Brady Hughes (Arbury) – Leisure and Health
- Cllr Tony Venson (Chilvers Coton) - Planning and Enforcement
- Cllr Kath Price - (Stockingford West) - Communities and Public Service
Cllr Watkins said:
“We have built a new Labour Group under my leadership, and we are focused on regenerating and driving our Borough forward.
“I have every faith in this cabinet and we will continue to listen to our residents and deliver a highly positive future for them.’’
