Nuneaton and Bedworth Borough Council is inviting residents to have their say on the proposed modifications to the Borough Plan Review.
A six week consultation will be carried out, running from Monday, 2 June, until Monday, 14 July.
The Borough Plan Review is a substantial document that sets out where development will be permitted around the borough.
It addresses needs and opportunities relating to housing, the economy, community facilities such as shops and open space, and infrastructure such as roads, and what kind of development should take place in which locations.
The Plan was submitted to the Government’s Planning Inspectorate for an independent examination in February 2024.
Hearing sessions were held between July and October 2024 to enable all stakeholders who had commented on the plan previously to discuss the key matters, issues and questions raised by the Inspectors.
Following the hearing sessions, this consultation seeks views on all the Main Modifications proposed to the Borough Plan Review which have been recommended by the Planning Inspectors, as well as a Sustainability Appraisal report and a Habitat Regulations Assessment addendum.
In addition to the consultation documents, the Council has also published Additional (minor) Modifications and Proposed Modifications to the Borough Plan Review Policies Map.
They do not form part of the consultation but are available to help inform people of the proposed modifications.
Following the closure of this consultation, all comments will be forwarded to the Planning Inspectors for their consideration.
Once the Inspectors have considered the responses, and all the evidence presented throughout the examination, they will determine whether the Review is ‘sound’ and produce a written report outlining their final recommendations.
The Borough Plan Review webpage provides full details of the consultation and any relevant updates.
The documents will be subject to a six week public consultation. These, supporting documents and response forms can be found on the Council’s website.
Hard copies are available at the Town Hall from 9:00am to 5:00pm, Monday to Friday, and at Nuneaton, Bedworth, and Bulkington libraries.
Appointments can be pre-booked to discuss the consultation materials with a Planning Policy Officer by phoning 024 7637 6288 or emailing planning.policy@nuneatonandbedworth.gov.uk
All responses should preferably be sent via email to planning.policy@nuneatonandbedworth.gov.uk or posted to Planning Policy, Nuneaton and Bedworth Borough Council, Town Hall, Coton Road, Nuneaton, CV11 5AA.
