Armed Forces Covenant Employer Recognition Scheme gold award

Nuneaton and Bedworth Borough Council has successfully secured a renewed five-year revalidation under the Ministry of Defence's Gold Employer Recognition Scheme.

The Gold Award, the scheme's highest, recognises organisations who go above and beyond to provide exceptional support to the Armed Forces Community.

Reviewed on a rolling five-year basis, the award revalidation acknowledges how organisations have sustained their excellent levels of support while continuing to implement and advocate forces-friendly initiatives for their workforce and local communities.

Gold status is also awarded to those who implement HR policies that accommodate the needs of the Armed Forces Community while continuously promoting this advocacy within their own networks and industry.

Initially awarded in 2019, the revalidation acknowledges Nuneaton and Bedworth Borough Council's long-term commitment to the military community in the borough and highlights its sustained support for implementing forces-friendly initiatives into its work.

Leader of Nuneaton and Bedworth Borough Council, Cllr Chris Watkins, said:

“The authority is delighted to be recognised in receiving the scheme’s top award.

“This demonstrates our continued and increased commitment to armed forces personnel.”

The Council welcomes veterans and the wider Armed Forces Community into the organisation and offers a range of supportive human resources policies, such as guaranteed interview schemes for veterans applying for job vacancies and an allowance of up to 24 days paid leave for reservists and adult cadet force volunteers.
