Visit Nuneaton Museum & Art Gallery this Saturday (2 November) for their bumper Winter Family Events Day. There will be lots to see and do.

Professional historical interpreters and craftsmen, Guarderobe will be bringing their air raid precautions (ARP) training camp to life.

Younger visitors can make a gas mask, a wartime biplane and sort salvage for the war effort.

There will also be a second-hand book stall run by the newly formed Friends Group to help raise funds for the museum. There are currently over 300 good-quality paperbacks on offer that have been donated by supporters.

Visitors will also be able to view a locally made film about people’s experiences of the war in Nuneaton. There will also be a mini-exhibition about what life was like at the museum during the war.

Cllr Tim Jenkins, Portfolio Holder for Leisure, Communities and Health, said:

"This events day is a great way to learn about World War II and be immersed in what life was like at the time.

"As always, there are great interactive activities for the children, and the historical air raid precaution interpretation will be a great experience for all to see."

Booking is not required, just pop along between 11am and 3pm. All children must be accompanied by an adult.

Activities last about 20 minutes and at busy times you may be asked to wait.

There are several temporary exhibitions to enjoy throughout the building. As always, admission is free, though donations are always welcomed.

For opening hours, visit the Nuneaton Museum & Art Gallery webpage.
