Make a wreath like this at Nuneaton Museum

Nuneaton Museum & Art Gallery has teamed up with talented artist Jennifer Collier to offer two workshops at the museum this winter.

The first, coming up in November, is to make a paper flower wreath in time for the upcoming festivities, and the second to create paper slippers is in the New Year.

Following feedback from the museum’s own consultation as well as the Cultural Strategy, people said they wanted to see more workshops taking place, and these events are a test to see whether there is an audience.

Cllr Tim Jenkins, Portfolio Holder for Leisure, Communities and Health, said:

“It’s great that we are looking at different ways of enabling people to get involved and try new artistic activities.

“Engaging in new, creative projects can be really beneficial for our mental health and quality of life.

“Let’s hope this is just the start of a range of similar events at the museum.’’

Paper Flower Christmas Wreaths with Jennifer Collier will take place on Friday, 15 November, from 11am to 4pm.

In this full-day workshop, visitors will be shown how to create decorative paper flowers from recycled papers, with a choice of five different types of flowers to make, from the very easy through to a five-petal origami flower.

The flowers will be used to make a beautiful, everlasting floral wreath for Christmas. All materials are provided, but visitors may wish to bring their own papers and books to personalise their wreath.

The cost of the workshop is £35, and booking is via TicketSource or book direct on 0333 666 3366.

Stitched Paper Slippers Workshop with Jennifer Collier will take place on Friday, 7 February, from 11am to 4pm.

In this workshop, you will be shown how to patchwork papers together to create a bigger paper fabric to make the work from, as well as several different options to really personalise the slippers.

You will learn a range of hand stitches to add decorative details, along with paper roses and Suffolk puffs. All materials are provided but you may wish to bring along your own papers and books to personalise your slippers.

The cost of the workshop is £35, and booking is via TicketSource or book direct on 0333 666 3366.
