An ARP warden, heading to Nuneaton Museum

There’s a series of activities taking place at the Riversley Park building including Make ‘n’ Take crafts and a World War II events day.

On Wednesday, 30 October, visitors can make an autumn wreath and the following day a paper plate owl.

On Saturday, 2 November, a World War II events day takes place with Guarderobe bringing their Air Raid Precaution (ARP) training camp to life.

Younger visitors can make a gas mask, model a wartime bi-plane and sort salvage for the war effort.

There will also be a second handbook stall run by the museum’s newly formed Friends Group to help raise funds.

A locally made film will be shown about people’s experiences of rationing and sharing information about what life was like at the museum during the war.

All holiday activities are free, and booking is not required, just pop along between 11am and 3pm. All children must be accompanied by an adult.

Activities last about 20 minutes, and at busy times you may be asked to wait. The event is free, but donations are welcome.

Cllr Tim Jenkins, Portfolio Holder for Leisure, Communities and Health, said:

"There will be an exciting array of half-term activities at the museum, from creating owl plates ready for Halloween to hands on history events exploring life during World War II.

“So why not bring the kids down if you're at a loose end over the holidays?"

There are several temporary exhibitions to enjoy throughout the building. As always, admission is free, though donations are always welcomed.

For opening hours, visit the Nuneaton Museum & Art Gallery webpage.
