Work will soon be getting under way to refurbish a children’s play area in Exhall.

The project at the New Road Recreation Ground, will see a host of new play attractions installed, at a cost of £75,000.

The bulk of the money, £50,000 comes from the UK Shared Prosperity Fund (UKSPF) with the remainder from the Council’s playground budget.

The improvements include a rock and bowl roundabout, Viking swings, slide and a spinning turtle with safety mats, made by playground leisure specialists Wicksteed.

Cllr Julian Gutteridge, Portfolio Holder for Health and Environment, said:

“The New Road Recreation Ground will soon have a fantastic children’s playground that we can be proud of.

“Youngsters soon, and for many years to come, will be able to enjoy this great collection of outdoor play attractions.’’

Ward councillor for Exhall, Cllr Damon Brown, said:

“I am delighted that the park at New Road is to be refurbished with new play equipment and pathways.

“It's something I've been campaigning for since I became a councillor in 2018.

“Ash Green's parks and play areas have needed improvement for some years and this is a great step forward towards bringing the play equipment in the area up to date.’’

The old equipment will be removed from New Road within the next couple of weeks, and the path will be installed soon after that, during February and early March.

New play equipment will be fitted from the last week in March to the middle of April.
