Bedworth is one of 75 areas across the UK that will receive the Plan for Neighbourhoods £20 million investment over 10 years, the aim of which is to support regeneration and economic development - focusing on Bedworth town centre.
Ran in partnership with a Neighbourhood Board, this includes representatives from local businesses, charities, police, Nuneaton and Bedworth Borough Council, and two students from Nicholas Chamberlaine School to ensure youth voices are heard.
Aims and Objectives
The Plan for Neighbourhoods focuses on three core goals:
- Thriving Places: By investing in infrastructure, housing, and public services, the programme aims to create vibrant, sustainable communities where people can live, work, and thrive.
- Stronger Communities: The initiative seeks to foster a sense of belonging and community spirit, encouraging local engagement and participation in decision-making processes.
- Taking Back Control: Empowering local authorities and communities to have a greater say in their future, ensuring that development and growth are tailored to local needs and aspirations.
Proposals are being reviewed, at regular board meetings, with the main aims including:
- Revitalising the town centre, including improving food, drink, and retail offerings
- Bringing empty buildings back into use
- Creating more activities and spaces for young people and families
- Addressing crime and antisocial behaviour
- Supporting local businesses and improving public services
