Personal searches

We aim to respeond to enquiries within 10 working days, however, we are currently working with HM Land Registry to transform and migrate our local land charges data onto the digital register.

During this time, official/personal search results may take slightly longer to process than normal and we apologise for any inconvenience this may cause.

You are entitled to do personal searches of environmental information under the Environmental Information Regulations.

A personal search under the Environmental Information regulations will not procure the same standard of comprehensive, validated and guaranteed answers to questions that we provide through an Official Search (an LLC1 and Con29 request).

The Council offers two approaches to personal searches; assisted and unassisted personal searches.

For further guidance please view the Schedule of Registers for Personal Search Companies.

Assisted Personal Search

We will review all property history records and data held for relevant personal search information contained both within and outside our published and statutory registers, and send you what we find electronically.  This will not include data held by other agencies. There is a fee for this service to be paid in advance.

Submit your request.

Unassisted Personal Search

You will need to adopt a mix of different methods to obtain all the information, including:

  • Published lists and registers – you will need to access the information directly yourselves
  • Statutory registers we hold where they have not been published* - view in person at the town hall by appointment (no fee)
  • Any other information we hold – either view in person at the Town Hall (unassisted) or have it sent to you by email (assisted) - there is a fee for this service to be paid for in advance – check the fees table above
  • Information held by other agencies – we will not provide information held by other agencies and you will need to approach them separately (eg Warwickshire County Council)

*Some statutory registers are held in property databases along with other information. To avoid breaches of the Data Protection Act, we extract the information into a format in which it can be viewed.

To prepare information for viewing in person at the town hall, make an appointment by email land.charges@nuneatonandbedworth.gov.uk, and we aim to make an appointment seven working days after the request is received.
