If you are struggling to pay Council Tax

There are many reasons why people may be struggling to pay their Council Tax. The most important thing is to talk to us or seek independent advice.

Support and free debt advice

You can talk to us at any stage. It is never too late - even if we have a court order. If you talk to us, we will do our best to ensure you are getting the right support and to agree with you on an affordable payment plan.

Making a payment arrangement - we are here to help

You can make an offer of payment on the summary section of the form. A member of the team will review this, and confirm if your offer is accepted.

We can make individual arrangements to help you pay your Council Tax, contact us on 024 7637 6530 between 9:00am and 5:00pm Monday to Friday. You will need to provide your households income and expenditure details.

Your annual bill may be spread over 10 monthly instalments. If you would like to spread this over 12 monthly instalments complete the change payment method form.

On a low income

If you are on a low income, you may be able to get Council Tax Support.

There are many unclaimed discounts and exemptions - check to see if you are entitled to these.

If you are having problems and struggling to pay a shortfall in your rent, you can apply for Discretionary Housing Payment.

In very exceptional circumstances where you are experiencing severe financial difficulties, we may be able to reduce the amount of Council Tax that you have to pay.
