Dog Control Public Space Protection Order

Nuneaton and Bedworth Borough Council has updated its Dog Control Public Space Protection Order under the Anti-Social Behaviour, Crime and Policing Act 2014.

The current Order requires owners to:

  • Clear up when a dog has fouled
  • Keep dogs on a lead in some areas
  • Put dogs on a lead when asked to do so
  • Keep dogs out of some areas

This order does not apply to those registered blind or utilising an assistance dog from Dogs for the Disabled, Support Dogs, Canine Partners for Independence or Hearing Dogs for Deaf People.

The penalty in relation to any offence in the above Dog Control Public Space Protection Order is a fixed penalty notice in the sum of £100.

If the penalty notice is not paid or is not the appropriate amount, we may prosecute the offender in the Magistrates court where the maximum fine is currently £1,000.
