Nuneaton Market cancelled as Storm Dennis brings gale force winds
Published on Friday, 14th February 2020
Nuneaton’s regular street market has been cancelled for tomorrow, Saturday 15 February.
Several Met Office weather warnings have been issued relating to Storm Dennis, with heavy rain and strong winds up to 50mph being forecast on Saturday. Unfortunately, with winds of this severity, any trading from vehicles has also been cancelled.
Jonathan White, Head of Town Centres and Marketing said:
“The safety of the public and market traders is paramount, the wind speeds forecast mean that it is not safe to erect or operate from market stalls. We would normally allow those selling perishable goods to stand and operate from their vehicles, but on this occasion, with winds of such magnitude it would be unwise to do so, and therefore we have no choice but to call a full cancellation of the market.
“We apologise for any inconvenience but we cannot take any risks when it comes to public safety.”
