Heart of England Community Foundation celebrate 25th anniversary with the Mayor in attendance

The Mayor, Cllr June Tandy, attended the Heart of England Community Foundation’s 25th Birthday Celebrations yesterday at the charity’s headquarters in Coventry.

Heart of England Community Foundation seek money from people who want to make an impact and award it to community and voluntary groups who need it, as well as investing in grassroots schemes.

Supporting around 1,000 local community projects across the West Midlands every year, and they are very passionate about making sure these projects thrive and excel.

The anniversary event saw performances from the Ladies Fighting Breast Cancer Choir and break-dancers from Mad Dope Kru (MDK) and Breakdots, all of which have been supported through the Foundation’s grant programmes.

The event also premiered a video that they did with Foleshill Women’s Training, an organisation the charity have supported and helped develop over the last 20 years.

Other guests that attended included past and present employees, trustees, former donors, Foundation supporters and influential people from the West Midlands.

Cllr Watkins, Portfolio Holder for Housing and Communities said:

“Heart of England Community Foundation have contributed to the growth of our local projects in the Borough for many years, and we are delighted that The Mayor was able to represent Nuneaton and Bedworth Borough Council at the charity’s quarter – century milestone celebrations."

Tina Costello, Foundation Chief Executive said:

“We were delighted to have Cllr Tandy at our 25th Birthday Celebration! The Foundation has grown tremendously over the last quarter decade and we’re thrilled to have supported Nuneaton and Bedworth for the whole of our history.

“Last year alone the Foundation awarded over £65,000 to grassroots projects in the borough and we can’t wait to do more for the area, and the West Midlands region, in the future.”
