NBBC turns green for the second time to show support for Blue Monday

Published on Friday, 17th January 2020

Next week Nuneaton and Bedworth Borough Council will be supporting the This is Me mental health campaign for the second year running, by lighting up the Town Hall in green lights on Blue Monday.

This is Me is a national campaign that’s dedicated to developing inclusive workplace environments. It will be making a return on Monday 20 January, and it’s led by the West Midlands Combined Authority (WMCA).

Blue Monday is said to be one of the most depressing days of the year, and is renowned for stressful events such as post-Christmas bills/debts and cold dark nights.

Organisations within the West Midlands region will go green to raise awareness for mental health, and collectively show support for people struggling.

Cllr Julie Jackson, Leader of Nuneaton and Bedworth Borough Council said:

“We are very happy to be supporting the This is Me campaign for the second year in order to raise awareness for mental health. Most of our time is spent at work, so it is extremely important that wellbeing support is available to staff.

“As a Council, we are committed to encouraging openness surrounding mental health issues, and ensuring we are making positive steps to create a supportive working environment for staff.”
