Leonard Perkins House raise £500 for Mary Ann Evans Hospice

Published on Tuesday, 14th January 2020

Residents of Leonard Perkins House in Bulkington managed to fundraise a whopping £500 for Mary Ann Evans Hospice from a jumble sale they hosted just before Christmas.

The decision to host the event was only announced a few weeks earlier, but the response for donations was overwhelming. In order to boost proceeds, residents also ran a Christmas raffle and served hot beverages.

The event saw a great turnout and in addition to the money raised for the Hospice, the residents managed to raise £100 for the Air Ambulance Charity.

Cllr Chris Watkins, Portfolio Holder for Housing and Communities said:

“It’s fantastic that residents from Leonard Perkins House were able to come together to raise an amazing £500 for Mary Ann Evans Hospice and also donate to Air Ambulance.

“The support and care that the Hospice offers to patients living with a terminal illness is hugely appreciated by their families and the local community. The funds raised will be a great help for the staff and volunteers to continue with their wonderful work at Mary Ann Evans.”
