Bin collection changes and recycling during the festive period

Published on Wednesday, 20th November 2019

In order to accommodate for bank holidays over the Christmas period, there will be temporary changes to some bin collections this year, affecting those who have bin collections on Wednesday and Thursday.

Changes to bin collections:

Normal collection date: Wednesday, 25th December 2019 - Rescheduled collection date:  Saturday, 21st December 2019

Normal collection date: Thursday, 26th December 2019 - Rescheduled collection date:  Saturday, 28th December 2019

Normal collection date: Wednesday, 1st January 2020 - Rescheduled collection date:  Saturday, 4th January 2020

Residents should ensure the correct bin(s) are presented by 7.00am on the day of their collection to avoid potential disappointment.

To make sure that everyone knows when they need to leave their bins out over the holiday period – The council’s refuse crews will be delivering bin hangers with all the information regarding the holiday period collection changes to all residents for two weeks starting from the 25th November.

Brent Davis – Executive Director, Operations said:

“Our aim is to keep disruption to a minimum so once again the only residents affected will be those who would normally have a collection on the Christmas bank holidays. You can visit the website for full details of the changes and also see our festive season recycling suggestions.”

Green Bin Collection Suspension

Please note that all green bin collections will be suspended for two weeks from Monday, 20th January 2020.  The new 2020/21 service will then begin Monday, 3rd February 2020. This is to allow for the mandatory waste operations training. Sign up to the 20/21 green bin service by Friday 17th January to avoid missing collection when the new service begins.
