Nuneaton Market cancelled due to strong winds
Published on Saturday, 2nd November 2019
Nuneaton’s regular street market has been cancelled today, due to forecasts of strong winds. Met Office yellow warnings are in place for much of the UK.
With forecast wind speeds in excess of 20mph and gusts in excess of 40mph, it is not safe to erect or operate from market stalls. Trading will be limited to just those regular market traders with perishable goods who are able to trade from their vehicles.
Jonathan White, Head of Town Centres and Marketing said:
“We have to follow procedures to ensure the safety of the public and market traders, the wind speeds forecast are beyond the tolerance of our market stalls and therefore have no choice but to cancel the market.
“We apologise for any inconvenience but we cannot take any risks when it comes to public safety.”
