MOD Gold Award for NBBC

Published on Thursday, 22nd August 2019

The Borough Council has today been recognised for its outstanding support for the Armed Forces community with a Gold award from the MOD Employer Recognition Scheme (ERS).

The ERS rewards and recognises UK employers for their support and commitment towards the Armed Forces community and principles of the Armed Forces Covenant. The Gold Awards represent the highest badge of honour available to those that employ and support those who serve, veterans, and their families.

The scheme includes bronze, silver and gold awards for the employers that pledge, demonstrate or advocate support to Defence and the Armed Forces community. This includes the Reserves, Service leavers, Armed Forces veterans, the wounded, injured and sick, Cadets, military spouses or partners and their families.

Having been presented with the Bronze award in 2016, and Silver in 2018, Nuneaton and Bedworth Borough Council has a continued strong track-record of support provision for military personnel and veterans. This year’s award recognises NBBC’s important work in implementing procedures which have enabled easier access to the services they provide.

Armed Forces Representative, Cllr Barry Longden said:

“I am extremely honoured that we have received this award. Following our Bronze and Silver awards, I couldn’t be more proud of the ongoing dedication of our Members and officers. This award represents the continued commitment of our staff to provide a service of the highest quality to our Armed Forces community and a big thank you goes out to all involved.”

Cllr Chris Watkins, Portfolio holder for Housing and Communities added:

“This is a wonderful achievement and once again highlights the excellent Armed Forces assistance we continue to provide in the Borough. Our military personnel, their families and veterans are highly valued and we aim to continue our good work in supporting this most worthy community.”
