NBBC have signed a contract with local supplier Ashby and Croft, securing an innovative £25 million framework for the supply of a range of high quality modular dwellings across Nuneaton and Bedworth.
Subject to planning, a total of 28 dwellings will be provided across four former garage sites at Abbotsford Road, Pine Tree Road, Raveloe Drive and Roxburgh Road. The framework will provide all types of accommodation from apartments and one bedroom bungalows right through to five bedroom houses. All of the dwellings will be built to National Space Standards providing spacious living environments.
The innovative procurement, using just one supplier ensures that volume can be generated within the same factory which will establish a cost effective and efficient build process.
In order to control the carbon footprint, the framework will become available to Councils in the East Midlands, Warwickshire, & West Midlands only and is available in a simple listed form with associated costs, ready for Councils to cherry pick as and when required.
David Langford, CEO of Ashby & Croft Group said:
“We are very pleased to be able to work in conjunction with NBBC to build better and affordable houses faster. After our successful pilot scheme, we have refined an already proven design that puts quality build at the forefront. Homes are the basis of our community and we plan, design and build every element of our solutions to ensure low maintenance and longevity for the tenants. Our products utilise high specifications that produce quality that is comparable if not exceeds traditional builds.
“Modular construction is a solution to many of the problems faced by the UK housing crisis. We can significantly reduce production costs through economies of scale and as such embrace the opportunity for other councils to access the robust framework developed by NBBC. The framework provides assurances and strict standards that Ashby & Croft have met, giving local councils streamlined procurement as well as keeping production local in our Nuneaton factory.”
Cllr Chris Watkins, Portfolio holder for Housing and Communities said:
“This framework is so innovative, the whole process will make it so simple for Councils to pick and choose from a range of modular dwellings as and when they require. The dwellings will be built to a high specification and having just one local supplier will ensure cost efficiency as well as helping to reduce the environmental impact. The variety on offer will provide a much needed choice of high quality accommodation to local people within the Borough.”
