Saturday 29 June 11am – 4pm
Come and celebrate Armed Forces Day at Nuneaton Museum & Art Gallery this Saturday!
Our Access Assistants will be delighted to see you between 11am to 4pm with a selection of objects for you to handle on the theme of National Service. Get hands on with the everyday kit that a National Service soldier would have been issued with! You can also find out about the lives of local men who did their National Service between 1948 and 1963.
Visitors can also discover the role of the Gurkhas and their special link with the borough. Finally why not pop in to our Landing Gallery to see the exhibition 'Connie's War'? Locally born artist Tracey Watson pays tribute to her grandmother, who survived the Coventry Blitz in this thought provoking mixed media exhibition.
Finally take a moment to reflect on the sacrifice of local people in wartime by viewing our Books of Remembrance.
This event will compliment the Family Gala Event taking place in Riversley Park.
Councillor Ian Lloyd, Portfolio Holder for Arts & Leisure stated:
“This is a great way for visitors to see, touch and learn about objects from the fantastic collections at Nuneaton Museum & Art Gallery. Discover the stories behind the objects and find out about the important role the borough has had within our armed forces”
